Tony Was a Friend of MineI miss him like the cigarette taste in my mouth that he left behind.   
Tony was a friend of mine, but he held my hand too close, and suddenly the line was crossed. We threw our heads back into the air and laughed as the smoke curled up around us. We always seemed to be stuck in a cloud of our own, lost in our grimaces and funny faces, children in our aging bodies.   
Tony's breaths would come in short, loud gasps whenever he touched my spine. He said the woman's back is the most delicate, sensual part of her body, and I arched back in agreement.

HannahHannah has a dancer’s body. You can tell because her hands are always moving when she talks, fidgeting, dancing as they crawl up her boyfriend’s sleeve when he ignores her, tapping a rhythm on his cheek.   Sometimes her fingers dance in her sleep, as if she’s typing words of infatuation for him, or making beautiful music,   
(There is always a beat, in the washing machine cycle, in the cat food tins she throws into the shopping cart, even in the wind around the bus stop as she waits for the number 23, there is always a rhythm that lures her wrists and hips into moving)

A Girl Of BlessUp on the stage, she wrote her own script. And it was too good to be objected.   
She stood there, a young spirit dancing between the shades of a twenty-three-year-old lady of sharp humor and sarcasm.  
She owned a skin for which any girl of my kind would pray, of a flawless species of brown. Her hair waved as it stayed still. Her hands and fingers grabbed some life.   
I dropped my pen and eyeglasses down, and listened to her scream.  
She screamed to me, and to everyone else, all the words of my reality, all the words I've tried to swallow up and replace by a smile.

You're Not Always What You Say

Here are the things I should have said:
1.I miss you.
2. Your hand fits surprisingly well in mine.
3.I've never felt this safe in anyone's arms. After months of solitary sleep, i think i could get used to you, even though you snore.
4. I know you're scared, but I truly believe that we could be great together, if only you let me.
5. If you only let me, I would be the best girlfriend you'd ever had. I'd love you more, feed you well, rub your back after a hard day at work, make you laugh when you're grumpy in the morning, cajole you into running with me and cutting back on the chainsmoking, keep you warm at night.
6.Seven years is long enough to know that this is a true friendship. Seven years should be long enough for you to figure out that we are right together, and no one, not your ex or my ex, should stand between that.
7. If this was just a fling, you shouldn't have held my hand that way.

Here are the Things I said:
1. Dude.
2. Of course we're cool, you're my buddy.
3. I could set you up with her if you want.
4. Yeah, committment sucks doesn't it? Not my thing at all...
5. I'm so happy to be single right now.
6. This whole experience has made us closer as friends, but we're only friends, right?
7. I understand, this is just a fling. Don't worry, I won't get attached or turn psycho on you. It's all good.

i was living in NY.
and i moved to Arizona.
Because my boyfriend got a job down here in the desert.

i miss trees.
i miss snow.
i miss the way the people were ruder, but crazier, and there wasn't illegal aliens running around when i ride my bike and kilos of cocaine coming into my country, close to my house.

and i miss my family and friends.

so like i said.
i don't think i moved as far as you.
but i understand.

if you ever feel sad and wanna throw me a note, feel free.
