The Red Dress Left BehindI am sad, mama, I am sad all the time.  
In my dreams, I put on my red dress and sway my way through the shallow waters. The sea is warm, the sun is on my skin and I am happy, with my hair long again. In my dreams I feel joy, mama, and there is always someone loving me there.  Only when I wake, only when I walk through the day every day, am I sad. I am full of dread, regret and resentment, all signs that I have finally grown up and grown old. I have made mistakes in my life. I have fallen in love, agreed to sacrifice dreams, hopes and desires for someone else’s life, left people behind who aren’t yet ready to let me go. &n The Red Dress Left Behind

VanessaMy blue dress is still hanging in the wardrobe. And today, as I turned the corner onto Maryoteya Road, I thought of you.   
It’s funny, I should have remembered my wedding day and the tense hour I spent clutching my husband’s hand in the car as we drove to the party, frantic with nerves on what was supposed to be the happiest day of my life.  Instead, you came into my head and I remembered the night we rattled down the road in your little Pica to the wedding of your next door neighbor.  You were attempting to multitask between driving, drinking vodka coke out of a coca cola bottle and checking your phone to see i Vanessa

HannahHannah has a dancer’s body. You can tell because her hands are always moving when she talks, fidgeting, dancing as they crawl up her boyfriend’s sleeve when he ignores her, tapping a rhythm on his cheek.   Sometimes her fingers dance in her sleep, as if she’s typing words of infatuation for him, or making beautiful music,   
(There is always a beat, in the washing machine cycle, in the cat food tins she throws into the shopping cart, even in the wind around the bus stop as she waits for the number 23, there is always a rhythm that lures her wrists and hips into moving)

The upside of divorce

here are some revelations that come with divorce:
1. the person you shared your bed with, your secrets and future with, is a complete stranger
2. there is no limit to the lengths that person will go to to destroy and hurt you
3. thankfully, brazillian waxes can become a nightmarish thing of the past
4. when suicide seems a more attractive option that staying married, divorce is a walk in the park comparitively
5. your real friends are the ones who take your side, without question or hesitation
6. divorce is an excellent sympathy card, will get you breakfast in bed, justify buying truckloads of unneccessary shoes and excuse irresponsible behaviour such as stealing party posters out of shop windows after a long night of partying.
7. It is possible to love a person fiercely, and fiercely not want to be with them.
7. life goes on. eventually.

i was living in NY.
and i moved to Arizona.
Because my boyfriend got a job down here in the desert.

i miss trees.
i miss snow.
i miss the way the people were ruder, but crazier, and there wasn't illegal aliens running around when i ride my bike and kilos of cocaine coming into my country, close to my house.

and i miss my family and friends.

so like i said.
i don't think i moved as far as you.
but i understand.

if you ever feel sad and wanna throw me a note, feel free.
